An updated version of the legendary “original” soft rock station KNX FM The Mellow Sound in Los Angeles it is programmed today by the same person who programmed it 40 years ago -- Michael Sheehy. His broadcast career has spanned 56 years with 40 of those in Los Angeles, programming and producing stations KNX FM and KTWV The Wave. During his 13 years at The Wave, Michael was the “signature voice” of the station as well as the majority of the Smooth Jazz stations nationwide. In addition, he produced all of The Wave’s international award-winning jingles. Mellowrock’s tech genius partner, Greg Oganowski, has long been recognized as the mind behind the Orban Optimod sound processing system, which is used by nearly every radio station worldwide. Greg’s major market career spans over 50 years as well. The reason we sound so clean, transparent, rich and different from other stations is a result of Greg’s introducing us to the cutting-edge technology HLS. But don’t take our word for it… simply listen. Oh yeah… one more thing. The station is also available in glorious 5.1 surround sound audio. To sum up the partnership, John Styll, another 50+ year broadcast vet, holds down the afternoon drive slot, and also serves as Music Director. John may be best known as the Producer of the “Dove” Awards… the Grammys of Christian Music. John is located in Nashville where he knows damn near everyone… and that really helps! Our ever-expanding music library contains over 6,500 individual songs with another 3.500 pre-produced sets. Our playlists are not spit out by a computer and simply called “radio”. What we do is hand-crafted one song at a time to take the listener on a musical journey. Air personalities … well there is only one Brian Cummings our morning man … another 50+ year broadcast vet … Brian is a monument to character voice acting as he has appeared in more Disney movies, TV series and video games than we have room to mention here … oh yeah he was even the announcer on “Let’s Make a Deal”. These days, Brian spends a good deal of his time being mobbed at Comic Cons nationwide. Sandy Kelley hosts the middle of the day … another long time broadcaster, Sandy started at Yale University, with stops in Detroit and Star 98.7 Los Angeles alongside Ryan Seacrest, and eventually hosted KTWV The Wave’s morning show for over a decade with Dave Koz, Pat Prescott and Paul Crosswhite. Joanne Ehrhart was a featured personality at KNX FM during its heyday of the ‘70s and ‘80s. A long time reporter for CBS News she spent years at KNX Newsradio and KFWB Los Angeles. Weekend evenings are handled by Beatles Authority Ray Whitaker. Known for his work in the Northeast and New York City … Ray is the one who keeps us thinking. Dave Hall (Robert David Hall) was not only the Music Director of KNX FM but the face of the station with his ever-familiar voice. Dave later went on to acting fame as Coroner Doc Robbins for 15 seasons on the original CSI Las Vegas. Steve Warren started on the air some 58 years ago as a teenager. His radio career has included stints as Air Talent, Music Director, Program Director and eventually national Radio Consultant. Steve is well known in radio circles as the owner and operator of the world’s finest music scheduling system, Music One. Newcomer production team Jodi Alba and Nolan O’Hara also work on the air. Jodi has a personality so big you could shake a stick at it, but how you spend your spare time is entirely up to you. Nolan is a an actual real-life Music Savant who helps keep us sounding up to date.
